Speaker - Ms Rose Gallagher

Rose Gallagher is the Professional Lead for Infection Prevention and Control (RCN) at the Royal College of Nursing.

Based in the Nursing Dept, she provides strategic leadership and specialist professional advice to the Royal College, its members and key stakeholders across the UK on Infection Prevention and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the implications for Nurses and Nursing.

She represents the Royal College at local, Regional, National and International events on both infection prevention and professional nursing issues. Rose is currently a scientific advisor to the European Public health Alliance (EPHA) on AMR.

Rose is a member of the PHE Rapid Review Panel which evaluates products for use in the NHS on the basis of scientific evidence to support claims of improved efficiency or efficacy of infection prevention and control (IPC) interventions to reduce healthcare associated infections (HCAIs). Rose leads the RCN’s work on procurement through the ‘Small Changes Big Differences’ programme of work. She has authored a number of chapters on infection control including Decontamination and the role of the Nurse (Walker J Ed 2014) and Clinical skills for Nursing (Delves-Yeates C Ed (2015).

Rose was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 90th Birthdays Honours list for services to Infection Prevention and Control in her role at the Royal College.
